9. Очень многонациональная страна: местного населения — только 50%, остальная часть — китайцы, индийцы, филиппинцы и еще много кого.

11. Ресторанов с национальной кухней разных стран множество. Очень понравилась китайская и индийская. В индийском ресторане при виде наших европейских фейсов даже не стали спрашивать про интенсивность специй — сразу сделали минимальную =)
12. Большинство населения свободно говорят на английском, особенно молодежь.
13. Народ на улицах очень добродушный и улыбчивый. Первые пару дней подозревала людей в том, что им от меня что-то нужно, потом ничего, отпустило — начала здороваться и улыбаться в ответ. Правда, по возвращении в Россию на меня еще долго с подозрением косились.
14. Если находитесь вдали от туристической зоны, не удивляйтесь, если к вам подойдут с просьбой сфотографироваться с вами. Почувствуйте себя знаменитостью =)
15. Флора и фауна — буйные. Здесь растет всё и повсюду, причем нехилых размеров.
16. Если у вас дома растет нечто в цветочном горшке, умножьте это, как минимум, на 10 и получите примерные масштабы здешней растительности.
17. Животные и насекомые — это вообще отдельная история. Тараканы и разные их родственники иногда провожали нас недобрыми взглядами.
18. Однажды мы с коллегой споткнулись в темноте о жука… мы так и не поняли, кто громче вопил — мы с коллегой или обиженный жук.

20. Укус медузы для местного населения-то же самое, что для нас крапива. Сражаться с медузами не советую, все равно они круче и их больше. Я сама пробовала — хорошо, что коллеги до больницы успели довезти.
21. Позже отомстила медузам, съев их в виде салата. К слову — морепродуктов множество и свежих, и по очень низкой цене.
22. Купание у аборигенов вообще не в почете (наверное, в море что-то пострашнее медуз водится, чего я еще не встретила). Бассейн можно отыскать только в отелях с большим количеством звезд, либо в частных домах очень богатых людей.
23. Здесь очень любят кондиционеры! Если в России мы привыкли греться, заходя в помещение, то в Малайзии все наоборот.
24. Местное население не танцует вообще, только приезжие. Так, например, накушавшись рому на джазовом фестивале, мы, естественно, пошли танцевать, чем немало повеселили публику.
25. Как выяснилось на практике, крепкими напитками в этом жарком и влажном климате лучше не злоупотреблять. Наутро сами поймете…
26. На острове есть несколько карстовых пещер с огромным количеством летучих мышей в них. Сначала вы слышите звук, потом чувствуете ЗАПАХ, и только потом видите саму пещеру.
27. В джунглях влажность чувствуется еще хуже, чем в городе. Аналогично можно прогуляться пару часов по теплице. Одежду перед походом можно вообще не сушить, ибо бесполезно.

С плавучей платформы спускаемся по лесенке метров на 5 вниз, и вуаля — с помощью 35 кг вы, не торопясь, шляетесь по морскому дну и общаетесь с местной флорой и фауной. Рекомендую!
37. В 30 минутах перелета есть замечательный остров Лабуан. Весь остров — это огромная промышленная зона различных сервисных компаний нефтяной промышленности. Половина населения острова — вахтовые работники этих компаний, а еще половина — филиппинские девушки легкого поведения.
